QSevaluatesthelong-termcomprehensivequalityofadisciplineonthefollowingfourindicatorsinthepastfiveyears:eachdisciplineinitsprofessionalfield,theworld’stopexpertsandscholarsTheprofessionalevaluationandrecognitionofdisciplinesarecarriedoutthroughthe"GlobalAcademicReputationSurvey".Theoverallqualityandcompetitivenessofthegraduatestrainedinthisdisciplineinthepast5yearshavebeenevaluatedandrecognizedbytheworld'stopemployersthroughthe"GlobalEmployerReputation"survey.Theannual"GlobalAcademicReputation"and"GlobalEmployerReputation"surveysarethelargest,mostcomprehensiveandin-depthsurveysofthistypeintheworld.Theothertwoindicatorsarethe"citedperarticle"oftheentiredisciplineinSCOPUS,theworld'slargestpapercitationdatabase,andthe"highlycitedindex"oftheentiredisciplineinSCOPUS.

Dne 27. února 2019 vydala QS profesionální žebříček Světové univerzity za rok 2019. Tento profesionální žebříček zahrnuje celkem 5 univerzitních oborů, včetně strojírenských technologií, 8 vědců z oblasti přírodních věd, 7 vědců z oblasti přírodních věd, 7 vědců z oblasti přírodních věd inženýrství, účetnictví a finance a statistika, zahrnující 48 pododdílových profesionálních žebříčků. 1032 oborů ze 110 čínských univerzit bylo vybráno po celý svět 600, včetně 76 z pevninské Číny, 9 z Hongkongu, 23 z Tchaj-wanu a 2 z Macaa v Číně.

March8,2017,theQSWorldUniversityRankingsbySubjectwasofficiallyreleased.Thisrankingcovers46differentacademicfieldsandevaluated1,127universitiesfrom74countriesaroundtheworld.Thedisciplinesof114universitiesinChinawereselectedintotheworld'stop400.

Accordingtothelatestrankings,atotalof114universitiesinChinahaveenteredthetop400intheworld,withanannualincreaseof30%,secondonlytotheUnitedStates,whichhas183universitiesinthetop400.96oftheUKrankedthird,58ofFrancerankedfourth,and57ofGermanyrankedfifth.

HarvardUniversityandMITdominatethenumberofsubjectsonthelist.Ofthe46subjects,27arefromthesetwoschools.TheUniversityofHongKongranksfirstindentistry.
