    1999年,QQ升级为Beta3版本,开始设计品牌Logo。之后从公司美工设计的鸽子、企鹅等几种小动物的形象中选定了企鹅这个形象。第一次设计的企鹅是黑白写实的。10月,腾讯参加中国国际高新技术成果交易会,将QQ做成了稍微有点胖的样子,还增加了一条围巾。之后腾讯找来专业设计公司在基础上再设计,脖子上围的黑围巾改成了一条鲜艳的红围巾,一只眼睛圆圆的,另一只眼睛眨巴着。而Q妹妹之后也正式亮相。

    2005年12月30日,腾讯更换了新的品牌标识,由绿、黄、红三色轨迹线环绕的小企鹅标识构成了品牌标识的主体,也是品牌标识中最为醒目的部分,将腾讯网“以用户价值和需求为核心”的品牌内涵体现无余。

    球形标识以QQ为中心,向外扩散成不断运转的世界,喻示腾讯从最大的即时通讯社区起步,随着用户需求和互联网应用的发展,业务范围和运营领域不断拓展;围绕主球体发散的彩色轨迹线,强调不断流转、延伸的意义,喻示腾讯网以用户价值和需求为核心的不断发展,不断满足人们在线生活的多种需求。

    2018年11月,86版电视剧《西游记》总作曲许镜清以侵害作品署名权、作品信息网络传播权纠纷为由,将北京麦田映画文化传媒有限公司、深圳市腾讯计算机系统有限公司诉至法院。许镜清称,电影《西游之女儿国篇》未经许可在配乐中使用自己的音乐作品《云宫迅音》《女儿情》,请求法院判令对方停止侵权、删除下架侵权电影《西游之女儿国篇》、赔礼道歉、赔偿经济损失及合理费用共计65.25万元。
