Undertheunifiedleadershipofthestate,theautonomousregionisbasedontheplacewhereethnicminoritiesliveinconcentratedareas.Lord,managelocalaffairswithinthenation.EthnicautonomousregionsenjoytherightofethnicautonomyasstipulatedintheConstitution,theLawonRegionalEthnicAutonomyandotherlaws.Thissystemiscalledthe"regionalethnicautonomysystem",andthesystemofethnicregionalautonomyisabasicpoliticalsysteminChina.
TheestablishmentofautonomousregionsisbasedonChina’sspecificnationalconditions.ItisalocaladministrativeareawherethePeople’sRepublicofChinaexercisesitssovereignty.ItisasacredandinalienablepartofChina.ItisunderthejurisdictionoftheCentralPeople’sGovernment.Therelationshipbetweenthelocalgovernmentandthecentralgovernmentdoesnothavethenatureofindependentsovereignty.Theirimplementationisconducivetothedevelopmentofthenationaleconomy,tothepeacefulreunificationofthemotherland,andtoconsolidatingthepoweroftheChinesepeople'sdemocraticdictatorship.
Asof2013,Chinahasatotalof5autonomousregions.Thisisbasedonplaceswhereethnicminoritiesliveinconcentratedcommunities,andestablishcorrespondingorgansofself-governmenttoexercisethepowerofautonomy.EthnicautonomousregionsenjoytherightofethnicautonomyasstipulatedintheConstitution,theLawonRegionalEthnicAutonomyandotherlaws.Thissystemiscalledthe"regionalethnicautonomysystem".ThesystemofethnicregionalautonomyisabasicpoliticalsysteminChinaandaunityofChinesenationalities.cornerstone.
InnerMongoliaAutonomousRegion
InnerMongoliaAutonomousRegion,referredtoas"InnerMongolia",isthecapitalofHohhot.ItislocatedinnorthernChina,geographicallylocatedbetween37°24′-53°23′northlatitudeand97°12′-126°04′eastlongitude.NingxiaisadjacenttoGansuinthesouthwest,RussiaandMongoliainthenorth,andbelongstothenorthwestregionofthefourmajorgeographicregions.
XinjiangUyghurAutonomousRegion
XinjiangUygurAutonomousRegionisreferredtoasXin,anditscapitalisUrumqi,locatedinnorthwesternChina.ExceptthatthesoutheastisconnectedtoGansuandQinghai,andthesouthisadjacenttotheTibetAutonomousRegion,therestareborderedbyeightcountriesincludingMongolia,Russia,Kazakhstan,Kyrgyzstan,Tajikistan,Afghanistan,Pakistan,andIndia.Itcoversanareaof1.66millionsquarekilometers.Itaccountsforabout1/6ofChina'slandareaandisthelargestprovinceinChina.Thenationalborderismorethan5,000kilometerslong,accountingforabout1/4ofthetotallengthofthecountry'slandborder,anditistheprovincewiththelongestborderinChina.Amongthem,themountainarea(includinghillsandplateaus)isabout800,000squarekilometers,andtheplainarea(includingbasinsandmountainbasins)isabout800,000squarekilometers.Theautonomousregionhasjurisdictionover4prefecture-levelcities,5regions,5autonomousprefectures,and10provincial-levelcounty-leveladministrativeunits.
GuangxiZhuangAutonomousRegion
In1958,theGuangxiTongAutonomousRegionwasestablished.By1965,itwasnamedGuangxiZhuangAutonomousRegion,referredtoasGuangxi,anditscapitalisNanning.ItislocatedinthewesternpartofSouthChina,borderingtheBeibuGulfinthesouthandborderingVietnam.GuangxihasthelargestminoritypopulationinChina,anditslanguagesuseCantonese,Guiliudialect,Zhuang,Hakka,Pinghua,etc.andvariouslocalminoritylanguages.GuangxiisthemostconvenientroutetoseainSouthwestChina,anditoccupiesanimportantpositionintheeconomicexchangesbetweenChinaandSoutheastAsia.Nanning,thecapitalofGuangxi,isthepermanentvenueoftheChina-ASEANExpoandthevenueofthe2014NanningWorldGymnasticsChampionships.
NingxiaHuiAutonomousRegion
NingxiaHuiAutonomousRegion,orNingforshort,isoneofthefiveautonomousregionsinmycountry.ThecapitalofYinchuan.ItislocatedintheupperreachesoftheYellowRiverinwesternChina.NingxiaisadjacenttoShaanxitotheeast,InnerMongoliatothewestandnorth,andGansutothesouth.Sinceancienttimes,ithasbeenanareainwhichtheCentralPlainsareinscribed,theWesternRegionsareconnectedtothewest,andthedesertsareconnectedtothenorth.
TibetAutonomousRegion
TheTibetAutonomousRegion,referredtoasTibet,isthecapitalofLhasa.ItislocatedinthesouthwesternpartofthePeople’sRepublicofChinaandisoneofthefiveethnicminorityautonomousregionsinChina.TibetislocatedinthesouthwesternpartoftheQinghai-TibetPlateau,between26°50'to36°53'northlatitudeand78°25'to99°06'eastlongitude,withanaveragealtitudeofmorethan4000meters.Itisknownasthe"RoofoftheWorld".Itcoversanareaof1.2284millionsquarekilometers,accountingforabout1/8ofthecountry'stotalarea,secondonlytoXinjiangamongallprovinces,cities,andautonomousregionsinthecountry.Attheendof2018,thepermanentpopulationwas3.4382million.
