Thestructureoftheopticalmouseisverydifferentfromalltheaboveproducts.Thereisnoscrollwheelatthebottom,andnoreflectorisneededtoachievepositioning.Itscorecomponentsarelight-emittingdiodes,miniaturecameras,andopticalengines.Andcontrolchip.Whenworking,thelight-emittingdiodeemitslighttoilluminatethesurfaceofthebottomofthemouse,andtheminiaturecameracontinuouslyshootsimagesatacertaintimeinterval.Thedifferentimagesgeneratedduringthemovementofthemousearesenttotheopticalenginefordigitalprocessing,andfinallythedigitalmatrixofthegeneratedimageisanalyzedbythepositioningDSPchipintheopticalengine.Sincetwoadjacentimagesalwayshavethesamefeature,bycomparingthepositionchangeinformationofthesefeaturepoints,themovingdirectionanddistanceofthemousecanbejudged.Theresultofthisanalysisisfinallyconvertedintoacoordinateoffsettorealizethecursorpositioning.

Theperformanceofanopticalmouseismainlymeasuredbyresolutionandsamplingfrequency,whicharetheso-calledaccuracyandSpeed,bothareactuallydeterminedbytheopticalengine.Inaddition,thekeyindicatorsoftheopticalenginealsoincludethesizeofthesensor,imageprocessingcapabilitiesandacceleration,etc.,whichalsodeterminetheactualperformanceoftheopticalmouse.

Severalproblemsintheuseofopticalmice
Youusuallyfindthefollowingproblemsintheprocessofusingopticalmice:glass,metal,etc.Themousecan’tworknormallyonsmoothsurfacesoronsomespecial-coloredsurfaces.Thecursorappearstobestuck,trembling,driftingorunresponsive,orevenmissingthecursor.Thesetwoproblemshavebeensolvedwiththedevelopmentofscienceandtechnology.Logitechreleasedin09The"Unbounded"technologylaunchedin1988andthe"WinningLaser"technologylaunchedbyShuangfeiyanin10yearscanmakethemouserununimpededontheglasssurface.Whydoestheoldopticalmousehavetheaboveproblems?Thefundamentalreasonliesinthelimitationoftheinnateprincipleoftheopticalmouse,wemaywishtomakefurtheranalysisonthis.
Weknowthattheopticalengineoftheopticalmousedeterminesthepositionofthecursorbyreceivingthefeedbackimage.Ifthemovingsurfaceistoosmooth,itmaynotproduceenoughdiffuselight,sothereflectionreceivedbythesensorThelightintensityisveryweak,sothatthepositioningchipcannotbedistinguished,whichcausestheembarrassmentofthemousenotworkingproperly.However,theglassmousepadsandmetalmousepadsonthemarketarenotmadeofsmoothsurfaces,butfrosted.Thediffuseemissionconditionsaregood,buttherearestillmanyopticalmouseproductsthatcannotworkonthem.Thisinvolvesanotherreason.Weknowthatthepositioningchipjudgesthepositioninformationofthecursorbycomparingthedifferencebetweenthefeaturepointsontheadjacentimagematrix,andthemattesurfaceofsomeglassmousepadsandmetalmousepadsismadequitefine.Thesurfaceishighlyconsistent.Ifitisatraditionalopticalmouse,itcanbesaidtomovelikeflyingandhandy,butthisisnotthecaseforanopticalmouse.Thehighlyconsistentsurfacecausesthedifferencebetweendifferentfeaturepointstobetoosmall.Thesensorcannotreflectthedifferenceafterconvertingitintoadigitalsignal.Itisnaturallydifficultforthepositioningchiptocompareandprocess,resultinginamouseataloss.Naturally,youshouldnotexpectittobeabletoItworksnormally.However,sensormanufacturerscanalleviatethisproblembyincreasingthesizeoftheCMOSsensor.Thelargerthesizeofthephotoreceptor,thehighertheresolutionaccuracyofthecapturedimage,andthegreaterthenumberoffeaturepoints,themorefeaturepointscanbecomparedwiththepositioningchip,sothatamoreaccuratejudgmentcanbemade.Ofcourse,theincreaseinthesizeofthesensormeansthattheamountofinformationtobeprocessedismore,andthecomputingpowerofthepositioningchipmustbesimultaneouslyimproved.Therepresentativeofthistechnicalsolutionisthe"MXopticalpositioningengine"ofAgilentTechnologies.Thesensorspecificationofanordinarymouseis22×22pixels,whilethe"MXopticalpositioningengine"isincreasedto30×30pixels,andtheamountofinformationthatcanbecapturedAnincreaseof80%.
Fortheproblemthattheopticalmousedoesnotworkoncertaincoloredsurfaces(alsoknownas"colorblindness"),theanswerissimilartotheabovesituation.Theopticalenginerealizescursorpositioningbytakingimagesandcomparingthedifferences.Totakeimages,thesensorisrequiredtocapturethereflectedlightwithacertainintensityanduniformdiffusereflection.However,mostsensorscanonlysensesomespecificwavelengthsofcoloredlight,andcannotdoanythingwithotherwavelengthsofcoloredlight.Ifthesurfaceofthemousepadcanabsorbalargeamountofthecolorlightthatthesensorcansense,theintensityofthecolorlightreflectedbackisinsufficient,andthesensorcannoteffectivelysenseit.Naturally,itisimpossibletocalculatethespecificpositionofthecursor.However,"colorblindness"isnotadefect.Usersonlyneedtochooseamousepadwithasuitablecolor.Ifthemousemanufacturermakesalleffortstosolvethisproblem,itmaycostahighercost.
