WangXinmei,male,wasborninPujiangCounty,ZhejiangProvinceinNovember1937andisamemberoftheCommunistPartyofChina.GraduatedfromtheDepartmentofCommunicationEngineeringattheMilitaryTelecommunicationsEngineeringInstituteoftheChinesePeople'sLiberationArmy(nowXidianUniversity)in1960.HeiscurrentlyamemberoftheChineseInstituteofElectronicsandtheChineseInstituteofCommunications,anIEEEmember,amemberoftheInformationTheoryProfessionalCommitteeoftheChineseInstituteofElectronics,aProfessionalMemberoftheChineseInstituteofCommunicationTheory,andamemberoftheMulti-ValuedLogicandFuzzyProfessionalCommitteeoftheChineseComputerSociety.From1995to1997,hewasapart-timeprofessoratSouthwestJiaotongUniversity.FromApriltoAugust1998,hewasavisitingprofessorattheNationalUniversityofSingapore.HeisnowaprofessoranddoctoralsupervisoratXidianUniversityandpart-timeprofessoratNationalUniversityofDefenseTechnology.

Mainlyengagedintheteachingandresearchofinformationtheory,communication,errorcorrectioncodesandcryptography.
